Ferro Gaita
Ferro GAita
The trio Ferro Gaita, whose name references two key instruments of funaná—the ferrinho (a metal bar scraped by another metal object) and the gaita (a diatonic accordion)—revived this style in the mid-1990s and helped bring new life to a part of Cape Verde's traditional musical heritage. Their efforts brought attention to the funaná, a genre that had fallen into obscurity. By reintroducing these iconic instruments and sounds, Ferro Gaita played a crucial role in preserving and revitalizing Cape Verdean cultural traditions.
